THE THERAPIST BEHIND THE MENTAL HUG

Hey there, I’m Brenton!

Licensed Professional Counselor

Life hasn’t exactly been gentle.

Maybe you’ve been through loss, trauma, or one of those big, life-altering transitions that leave you questioning everything. Now, you’re stuck in a loop of overthinking at 3 AM, carrying the weight of it all, and wondering if you’re just too much (spoiler: you’re not).

I’m Brenton (he/him), a queer-identified therapist who gets it—because I’ve been there too. I know what it’s like to move through the world feeling unseen, to crave a space where you don’t have to explain or defend your existence.

I work with deep feelers, overthinkers, and the quietly overwhelmed—people navigating grief, trauma, identity, and the messy middle of life.

This isn’t about forced positivity or quick fixes. It’s about real, meaningful healing in a space where you don’t have to filter yourself.

Come as you are.
I’ll meet you there.

“To feel intensely is not a symptom of weakness.”

Whether you are going through a major life transition, discovering or shedding identity, or have lost a loved one, I am here to support you.

Your therapy sessions are tailored to your unique needs and goals, and we will work together to identify the best strategies for managing grief and any associated anxiety, depression, etc.

There is no rule book to healing grief. Grief is complex, messy, and can feel indefinite. When you’re ready, reach out and let’s begin the path to finding the peace you’re seeking.

  • Trauma can leave deep scars on individuals, affecting their emotional, psychological, and physical well-being.

As a therapist specializing in trauma, I am dedicated to providing a safe and nurturing space for individuals to explore and heal from their past experiences. Through evidence-based interventions and compassionate support, I aim to empower clients on their journey towards resilience and restoration.

A primary modality used is Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a highly effective therapeutic approach, which focuses on processing and integrating traumatic memories to alleviate distress and promote healing.

If you or someone you know is struggling with the aftermath of trauma, I encourage you to learn more about how therapy can help by visiting our dedicated page on EMDR for further insights and resources (page coming shortly).

  • According to the American Dental Association, it is estimated that between 9% and 20% of Americans avoid going to the dentist because of anxiety or fear.

I understand firsthand, as a registered dental hygienist, the impact dental fear and anxiety can have on both dental professionals and their patients.

As a dental professional, you’re aware of challenges that come with treating patients who are afraid or anxious about receiving dental care.

As a patient, you may have experienced the feelings of nervousness and discomfort that can make a dental visit stressful, anxiety inducing, and traumatic.

Don't let dental fear and anxiety keep you from receiving the dental care you need or providing the best possible care for your patients.

Reach out today and take the first step towards a more confident, stress-free dental experience.

These are just elements of where I focus most of work at this time. If you are seeking counseling services and your internal compass is directing you to me, reach out!

Vulnerability is embraced, healing is nurtured, and
personal growth is celebrated.
